Why Women Initiate Two Thirds of Divorces: My Conversation with Chloe Oudiz

By Anne Heaton-Armstrong · 1 September 2026 · 3 min read

I recently joined Chloe Oudiz on her podcast for a candid conversation about relationships — why so many divorces are initiated by women, what leads people to that point, and what couples can do before things reach breaking point.

What we talked about

Relationship difficulties rarely appear overnight. Often they build slowly through unspoken expectations, unequal responsibilities and a gradual loss of connection. In our conversation we explored how these patterns develop and why one partner may reach a decision long before the other realises how serious things have become.

We also discussed the value of noticing the early signs and finding space — individually or together — to talk honestly about what isn't working.

How counselling can help

Relationship issues are one of the areas I work with most often. Counselling offers a confidential, non-judgemental space to understand your feelings, clarify what you want and consider your options, whether you are hoping to repair a relationship or navigate its ending.
