Counselling in Spanish: The Benefits of Bilingual Therapy
By Anne Heaton-Armstrong · 20 July 2026 · 4 min read
I provide sessions in both English and Spanish, online via Zoom. For many clients, being able to choose the language they speak in makes a real difference to how comfortable and understood they feel.
Why language matters in therapy
Emotions are often tied to the language in which we first experienced them. Memories from childhood, family relationships or cultural expectations can feel easier to describe in one's first language. Being free to move between English and Spanish can help you express things with more nuance and honesty.
Supporting international lives
Having lived and worked internationally myself, I understand the particular pressures of relocation, adjusting to a new culture, being far from family and managing relationships across borders. These experiences can bring up feelings of isolation, identity questions or stage-of-life challenges that are worth exploring in a supportive space.
Getting started
Simply let me know your preferred language when you request a consultation, and we can work in whichever language — or mix of both — feels right for you.
